God from Luke’s Eyes to Yours

“Begging for a Part” | April 19, 2026

“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” — Luke 8:39

In this powerful encounter, everyone wants a part in what Jesus is doing—but not everyone responds the same way. Demons beg for permission, the healed man begs to stay, the crowds react in fear, and ultimately ask Jesus to leave. Pastor Scott showed us that when Jesus moves, it reveals what people truly want—control, comfort, proximity, or transformation. The invitation isn’t just to be around Jesus, but to be changed by Him and sent with purpose.

To Be A Part

v 28, 31, 32

  • Even demons recognized Jesus’ authority and begged for a role.
  • Wanting involvement doesn’t equal surrender.
  • It’s possible to want access to Jesus without yielding to Him.

To BE Part

v 38

  • The healed man desired to remain with Jesus.
  • Transformation creates a longing for closeness.
  • But Jesus calls him not just to stay—but to go with purpose.

To See Part

v 34–36

  • The crowds witnessed undeniable change.
  • Seeing a miracle doesn’t guarantee belief.
  • Observation without surrender leads to hesitation, not transformation.

To DEPART

v 37

  • Fear led the people to push Jesus away.
  • When Jesus disrupts comfort, rejection becomes a real response.
  • We must decide: welcome His work or resist His presence.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Everyone wants a part in what Jesus is doing—but not everyone surrenders.
  • Proximity to Jesus is not the same as transformation by Jesus.
  • Fear and comfort can keep us from fully receiving Him.
  • True transformation leads to purpose and proclamation.
  • Our response to Jesus reveals what we value most.

CALL TO ACTION

  • Examine your response: Are you seeking access to Jesus or surrendering to Him?
  • Embrace transformation: Let Jesus change what only He can change.
  • Reject fear: Don’t let discomfort push you away from His work.
  • Share your story: Declare what Jesus has done in your life.

Don’t just beg for a part—be changed and sent with purpose.
